DG JRC and DG CLIMA have co-organised a side event on the NER 300 programme during the SET Plan – Central European Energy Conference X on 30 November 2016. The event was held during Slovakia’s EU Council Presidency and created an international platform for open discussion on the most important issues regarding current EU energy as well as research and innovation policy between stakeholders.
This year, the JRC and project sponsors presented some renewable energy projects funded under the NER 300 programme at a parallel event. Roman Doubrava, Deputy Head of Unit “Land Use and Finance for Innovation” from DG Climate Action, European Commission, introduced the programme and its current state-of-play. Highlights from the following projects were then presented and discussed with the audience:
- Verbiostraw (Dr. Michael Schlimbach, Vereinigte BioEnergie AG)
- Stroma Tidal Turbine Array (Cameron Smith, Atlantis Resources Ltd.)
- South Hungarian EGS Demonstration (Zoltán Salánki, EU-FIRE Hungary Ltd.)
